The Executive Office for Control and Non-Proliferation contributes an effective role in tightening control over exports and limiting the spread of weapons of mass destruction and related technology, based on policies, legislation and partnerships locally and internationally. The “Executive Office for Control and Non-Proliferation” was established in the United Arab Emirates in 2009 to be the competent authority. Implementing the provisions of Federal Decree Law No. (43) of 2021 regarding goods subject to the non-proliferation ban, which replaces Federal Law No. (13) of 2007 regarding goods subject to import and export control, with the aim of preventing the illicit and unauthorized circulation of goods for use. Doubles that contribute to the production or development of weapons of mass destruction and their associated technology and means of delivery.
The Executive Office for Oversight and Non-Proliferation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and other government agencies, works to follow up on the implementation of the decisions and requirements of the United Nations Security Council and other relevant international and regional organizations, and to coordinate and supervise the application of targeted financial sanctions related to the terrorist lists system and the application of Security Council resolutions related to prevention and suppression. Terrorism and its financing, stopping the spread of armaments and its financing, and relevant decisions in coordination with the relevant authorities. It is considered the technical point of contact for following up on the state’s obligations in the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons, this comes as an embodiment of the vision of the United Arab Emirates government to maintain security and stability inside and outside the country and to enhance partnership with countries in the region and the rest of the world to be free of weapons of mass destruction.
